Workshop

Samson's workshop is located in an old hangar near a lac which incidently is the source of his newfound passion, his collection of koi fish. The work in progress that is his hangar is as much a part of his art as the paintings themselves. The chaos in which Samson works is an essential part of his creation process.

Les Enfoncés

From the very beginning, Samson wanted to execute his art on his own terms constantly modifying his techniques, the framework and the materials. In 2002 he starts experimenting directly with the canvas by pulling it back into the frame in specific areas. This unique technique translates into a three dimensional painting and brings about a sculpural aspect to his work which he appropriately named "Les Enfoncés" in french, or recessed canvas in english.
